Mountain Lake Biological Station is the home away from home for much of the Brodie Lab. Most (but not all) of the lab moves to the station for the summer and works on Beetle Crew, studying the social behavior and social networks of the forked fungus beetle (Bolitotherus cornutus) as part of a >10-year collaboration with Dr. Vince Formica.

Butch has been the director of the station since 2007.
